Getting Started

Whether you are a new rider, new club, coach, official, volunteer, or a new race director, there is some information that is good for you to know when you are starting to participate in Iowa Bicycle Racing Association events. To become a member of IBRA, you just need to purchase a USA Cycling License, and you are automatically a member of the Local Association. You can also just come to an event and purchase a one-day trial license, if you like it, the cost of purchasing the trial license can be applied to the purchase of your annual race license.

The Iowa Bicycle Racing Association is a 501(c)3 non profit corporation and is designated as a Local Association to manage road, track, and cycle-cross events in the state of Iowa by USA Cycling, Inc.  USA Cycling is the governing body for cycling in the United States as recognized by the International Olympic Committee and operates under the control of the International cycling body known as the Union Cycliste International (U.C.I.).

All riders, race directors, and teams that work, manage, and race are required to be licensed through USA Cycling.
